The Yawarr Coat is a mid-length coat with faux shearling trims and a brilliant printed suedette bodice. This playfully crafted style features the arched birthing cave motifs and the high-impact brushstrokes of Miimi & Jiinda’s painting, Girrwaa (Community). Yawarr is the Gumbaynggirr word for ‘dance’.

How to Measure
A. Garment Length

Measure from the center-most back point of the collar down to the bottom of the garment at the hem.

B. Sleeve length

Measure down the length of the sleeve on the outer side of the arm.

C. Bust

Lay the garment down flat and measure across from one underarm point to the other. Double this measurement to get the bust circumference.

D. Waist

Lay the garment down flat and measure 14cm down from the internal underarm seam and then measure across. Double this measurement to get full waist circumference.

E. Hem

Lay the garment down flat and measure from the bottom edge of the side seam to the other. Double this measurement to get full hem circumference.

Lovely Coat

I chose the Yawarr Coat as I was intrigued by the design and colours. The quality of the materials used and the construction are all of a very high standard, and the faux fur is thick and sumptuous. I'm just a bit disappointed in the intensity of the print used, it is a bit wishy washy, somewhat pale and insipid. I would have loved the colours to really pop, especially as the design is so unique. Still, a lovely coat that honours the original custodians, and one I will keep and wear with pride.
